Do not let the name of this post scare you off. This is OMG amazing and you would never guess that the base of the sauce is cauliflower I promise!

Ever since Mike and I returned from our cruise we have been trying to minimize our dairy intake. When we were traveling our systems took a beating and we both agreed we needed a clean up. Part of the cleanup includes minimizing our dairy intake. Thankfully, there are many dairy-free options, so the cleanup has not been too difficult.

This sauce is not only dairy-free but also incredibly creamy and full of good for you nutrition. Cauliflower is a highly nutritious vegetable that is low in calories and high in vitamins and minerals. It is a great source of vitamin C, vitamin K, and folate, and also provides some fiber, which is important for our digestive health :-) Additionally, cauliflower contains unique compounds with antioxidant properties that may help reduce inflammation. Anything that might reduce inflammation is a win win in our house.

I use this sauce on everything. My favorite way is to pour it over a bowl of steamed veggies or gluten-free pasta. I also use it as a cheese sauce sometimes in my Mexican bowls :-)

Dairy-Free Cauliflower Alfredo Sauce

Just make it! Yep, I said it. The sauce will thicken up over time. You can always add in more dairy-free milk to achieve the consistency you desire.
Servings 2 cups


  • 1 High Speed Blender


  • 2 cups steamed cauliflower florets
  • 10 whole cashews
  • 1 cup coconut milk you can use any dairy-free milk
  • 1/4-1/2 cup nutritional yeast try and use the non fortified kind if you can
  • 1/4 cup yellow onion, diced
  • 1 tsp dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp salt do not add salt if your cashews already have salt on them


  • Add all the ingredients into your blender and blend away
  • The sauce should have a creamey consistency
  • Store the sauce in the refrigerator and consume within 5 days
