This pet sit stuff is getting fun. Our second pet sit was in what we call here in Portugal “The Silver Coast.” The Silver Coast, or “Costa de Prata,” is an awesome spot in Portugal. It stretches from just north of Lisbon to a little south of Porto and is famous for its gorgeous beaches and cute little towns. Places like Nazaré and Peniche are popular for their massive waves and great surfing. We spent a night in Nazare two years ago but it was not the high surf season. We hear it is mind-blowing to be there and view the waves at that time of year.

When we were deciding where to live in Portugal, the Silver Coast kept coming up as a great place to live however the weather is way too cold for Mike lol. Our weekend in Ericeira confirmed we made the right decision when we decided to put our roots down in the warm and comfortable Algarve region of Portugal. However, the Silver Coast is a lovely region. The region is packed with history—think medieval castles and charming streets. Charming is the word that always comes to mind when I think of the Silver Coast streets. One of our favorite vacations was in a town on the Silver Coast called Obidos, a historic town with impressive castles, winding cobblestone paths, and fantastic food vibes ;-) Guess where our third pet sit is going to be located? Yep, Obidos in just a few weeks.

The house we stayed in during this pet sit was lovely, modern and very new. One of the things we committed to each other when we started this pet-sitting stuff was we would not stay at any house that did not look cozy and modern no matter how cute their dogs were lol.

Both of the dogs were 5 years old and full of life. Both dogs were under 5 pounds, very different from Polo at the last pet sit who was easily 125 pounds lol. Missy was a Yorkshire terrier and truly the flipping cutest dog ever. She was so much fun to play with and she loved to cuddle. Her favorite thing to do was sleep on our legs. Mike fell in love with Missy. Drogon was a Shih Tzu. My Roscoe was a Shih Tzu so you can figure out which one was my favorite right? Drogon was just a major chill dog. He wanted to be close to you but he was not as needy as Missy. We loved these dogs and they made the pet sit a fantastic experience.

The town of Ericeiria was so cute. The town is considered a fishing village and you could see this with all the small working fishing boats on the beach. Ericeira has a stunning coastline and is very popular with the hipster crowds. We did not feel out of place but we also did not feel hip lol. Ericeira is recognized as a World Surfing Reserve, which highlights its exceptional waves and commitment to conservation. I think this is why there was such a hip vibe. In addition to its surf culture, Ericeira offers a vibrant seafood scene with numerous restaurants serving fresh catches from the Atlantic Ocean. We did not indulge in the fresh seafood although we were tempted. Mexican food and Pizza always take center place for us when it comes to eating out. We are still so American lol.

I think this is great place for anyone to visit. I think the town has something for everyone. We will be back to visit and hopefully to babysit Missy and Drogon again ( BUT maybe Spring time lol )
