I am not sure I can put into words our Camino Ingles experience. It was a trip of a lifetime and truly unforgettable for many reasons.
The highlight of the trip was the people. First and foremost traveling with my husband is always the best. He is always my rock. He knows me well and knows when to push me, when to support me and when to just keep quiet lol. He is an avid walker so this was not as challenging for him as it was for me. Each and every uphill he would wait for me at the top and was always waiting at the bottom as I took each downhill slow and steady.
My sister and her boyfriend joined us on this adventure. I can not put into words what having my sister on this trip meant to me. My sister and I are very close and our move to Portugal has been hard on us. We are use to visiting each other a few times each year. I can not imagine doing this with anyone else. She kept things light, she always had a smile on her face and there is no other person in the world that could get me to sing and dance in the rain. She is not only my sister but my best friend that I would follow anywhere.
Speaking of the rain……… The weather on this Camino was treacherous. It literally rained on us 90% of the time. It was not just the rain that made it challenging but also the wind and the mud and sludge we had to walk in. There were times that we had to step in ankle deep water just to move forward. Our backpacks were stocked with food and change of socks but they were useless because even though the backpacks were covered the contents inside were drenched.
We walked for 6 days. During those 6 days we went through beautiful forests, quiet villages, walked along the highways, pushed our bodies up many hills, stepped our way across many kilometers that there was nothing but us and the road within eyesight. I think it is best to just leave the videos below so you can experience a taste of each leg of this adventure.
Would we do it again? Yes! There are a lot of Caminos in Europe. We will pick another and do it again one day BUT we will 100% never go during the rainy season again lol.

Below you will find a few pictures we took of our finish into Santiago de Compostela Cathedral. I have to be honest in saying that it was a tad anticlimatic. We were frozen, exhausted and numb. In my dreams the finish was a lot more eventful but mother nature took a toll. I did let a few tears go as we walked through the tunnel. In addition to the Cathedral pictures you will also see a few pictures of our trip we spent in Porto, Portugal to finish out our adventure.
