Mike and I are so excited about some upcoming travel we have on the books. This travel is going to be different than the travel we have been doing, this travel involves fur babies. We have officially signed up with a company called Trusted Housesitters. Have you heard of it?

We had some friends recommend this service to us, and at first, it did not appeal to me. However, the more I looked into it, the more excited I got. Let’s be real we all know I am an avid animal lover. We can not have pets where we live and I miss them so much.

The company has two sections to their service: 1: you can sign up as a homeowner who needs to have someone stay in your home and look after your pet(s), or 2: you can sign up as a housesitter and apply to stay in people homes and look after their pets. We signed up with option 2. With option 2 you get to stay in their house for free in exchange for watching their pet(s).

To sign up, you must go through a background check and provide important personal information while filling out the application. Once the signup process is complete and you are approved, you can start searching for your first housesit. Trusted Housesitters is an international company so the world is your oyster.

Searching for a sit is so much fun. You have loads of filters you can apply so you can narrow down your choices. We decided that while we get a feel for this new adventure we would try and stay fairly local with our first few sits. Once you find a sit you would like to do you then apply for it by reaching out to the owner through the portal with a little “why you would be a good fit” for the sit. You then wait for them to reply and either accept or decline your application. If accepted you schedule a video call with them so you can get to know each other and discuss the sit in more detail. We have two sits scheduled and we could not be more excited. The funny thing is we already feel like we have met new friends with both of the couples we will be sitting for. We started this adventure so we could travel a little and also get me some animal loving time but I think it is going to be so much more than that.

Our first sit is in early December in Estepona Spain :-) Our second sit is at the end of December in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal. Both of the houses are modern and look very comfortable. I am most excited about loving on the animals and Mike is most excited about adventuring out in a new area for his walks. Win-win for both of us. Stay tuned and check it out if it piques any interest. I think it is a fabulous way to see the world.
