Mike and I have been living in Portugal for approximately 2 1/2 years. We thought it would be fun to share some of the things we enjoy about living here and some that are not so enjoyable. Hi Judy š. Very interesting video. I am so glad you posted it because I was always wondering what it would be like moving so far away from the US and living in another country. Hi Linda, I am glad you found the video interesting. I can’t wait to see how Mikes video comes out. He is not going to watch mine first so it should be interesting. Moving far away was so scary but also felt and still feels so right. We have no plans to move back to the states but I guess never say never. I lived in the states for 57 years so now I want to experience living in other areas. We are very blessed to have met so many amazing people. I know you feel the same way about your new friends in Arizona. I think of you often and am always here for you if you need a friend. Hugs

About ApolĆ³nia – was started by Avelino ApolĆ³nia -Portuguese- and I have found despite its reputation that some things are more expensive at other grocery stores, notably IntermarchĆ©!

Hi Amanda, is it called El Jefe? I have been chatting with them and he just added gluten-free taco shells. We want to try and go. Let’s make a date. Interesting that Apolonia was started by a Portuguese, I like that. Despite my bitching about the prices, I do go at least once a week lol. Once we moved from Lagos we stopped going to Intermache. Hope you are doing well :-)

Honestly, I have to say I’m a little in awe of you two for making such a bold move. It takes a lot of courage and gumption to uproot yourselves and start fresh in a new country. But it seems like it’s paying off in spades!
As you continue to learn the Portuguese language, remember thereās always Google Translate if you get stuck.š We used that app quite a bit on our cruise. In the meantime, keep enjoying your Portuguese adventure! Sending love to both of you. ā„ļøā„ļøš
Hi Cathy, what a treat to read your sweet words. I miss your beautiful smile. You are correct, we truly have hit the jackpot and are so very happy. It is funny a lot of people mention the courage we must have had to make the move but we never felt courageous or anything even remotely like that. I think for us it just felt right. It was the right time of life for us and all the puzzle pieces just seemed to fit. Of course, like I mentioned in the video being away from family never gets easier and that is not fun.
Google Translate is the biggest lifesaver. I do not think we would have made it this long without that awesome app.
